The XMP1 is a flexible 64kbit/s Access Multiplexer and Cross-
and SDH applications from 8kbit/s up to STM-4. It has both electrical and optical 2Mbit/s, 34Mbit/s and STM-1 it also has an STM-4 optical line interfaces accompanied by a wide range of 64kbit/s or Nx64kbit/s subscriber interfaces, that enables operators to build either PDH or SDH networks using just one highly integrated system.
XMP1 is a modular, flexible and highly integrated cross-connect system within a single network element on 8/64 kbit/s level for PDH part and VC-12, VC-3 and VC-4 level for the SDH unit. The transmission rates are from 8 kbit/s up to 34Mbit/s for PDH and STM-1 and STM-4. It is in each configuration always a fully non-blocking cross-connect configurable as a terminal or add/drop multiplexer that enables you to set up complex communication and data networks adapted to your bespoke requirements.
The capacity of the digital switching matrix is 16x2 Mbit/s: 480 timeslots using CAS-Signaling, or 496 using 31 channels. The cross-connect of each individual 64k signal inclusive associated signaling information (2kbit/s) is freely configurable. These signals can be terminated on service interfaces and combined with other 2Mbit/s signals (E1) for interworking with a transport network or as connection inside pure XMP1 networks. New enhancements mean that customers with an installed base of XMP1 can now migrate to SDH and SDSL services
